Kiko did not hesitate. She was in his arms before he had finished saying the words. And while others might have been worried at the display of frustration she understood it completely. There had been plenty of times when he traveled to places where she could not follow. Each and every day she wondered if he would come back to her.
Kiko's temple was pressed to his silently. He had always been endlessly patient with her and endlessly caring. Could she do any less? She wrapped her arms around his hips and did not know what to say that might dispel his fears. She knew it was foolish. She did not know what to expect from the Overwood. But, that would not stop her from going.

Grayell was quick to bury his face in her neck, his eyes closing and his arms clutching her to him greedily, like a child holding onto their teddy bear as a ward against the nightmares that lurked in the dark of their room.
He sighed, stayed there a moment and made it count, smelled her and felt her and persistently etched that into his memory. He didn't want her to go. There was no inch of reason within him that thought it was ok, or acceptable; or something he wanted to have to come to terms with.

Kiko sunk her hands into his hair. She filled her fingers and palms with the sensation for as long as possible. She had just gotten home. She had planned to spend a good amount of time doing nothing but reveling in his arms. Her voice came out in a quiet whisper.
"I know."
Her hands went down the sides of his face and beneath his jaw. She lifted his head up to look in his eyes. She had seen his vivid blue eyes every day in the color of the sky above the Garou camp. She would not be so lucky in the murk of the Overwood. She leaned forward to place gentle kisses against his eyelids.

Grayell sighed... and then with her close, shifted to steal a kiss. He didn't take it from her though, he snuck in to have it, then stayed there, him holding her close and his lips telling her words he did not have.
"You won't take me with you. I know this. And I cannot simply leave, there's so many other matters that the Vanguard has to see to.
But I don't want you to do this alone. I have to know you're safe."

"I won't be alone, Wolf. I am never alone."
Kiko gave a quietly pleased sigh with the kisses. She had latched her hands behind the back of his neck. Her fingers were playing with the skin now, trying to unknit all the tense muscles she found.
She knew he would not accept those words, as true as they might be. No, he was going to send someone with her and she was almost sure she knew exactly who that person might be.

Grayell growled in a pleading manner and presses his cheek under her chin, nuzzling her neck. He nudged her, urged her to slump to her side where he placed an arm over her to hold him aloft and then kissed her again. He then slipped onto his side and held her, staring at the small fire.
"No. You won't be alone. And should you need anything, you just call. There are many shadows in the Overwood, what is one more?"

Kiko curled up without resistance her chin lifted to give him more skin to nuzzle at. She had known he would be upset. She had known he would probably insist on sending someone with her. And when he said "shadows" she knew that her guess had been right.
Truth tell she was glad of it. She was not an expert on the Overwood, not by a long shot. And an extra few hands would not be a bad idea. She would call, too. Kiko was not so full of pride that she would not accept help.
Her hand tucked in between his fingers. Kiko stared at the flames and took comfort in his strong body. She fell asleep that way, too, back pressed to his chest and her fingers tangled up with his.

Grayell stayed awake for some time. He didn't want to let her go. Not so soon. But if all he was to have was this one night...
He spent it keeping her warm and watching the fire paint her features. She was incredible, beautiful in every aspect. She would be back, he knew this. The Drow did not know him, but woe befall anyone and anything that kept her from him.
No. She would have help if she needed it. She was capable and as cold and as cruel as the Drow were...
He knew that nothing would keep them apart.
When sleep came, he resigned himself to it, curled up as the wolf, the heat and the fur of his body warm against her back.
Welcome to The Menagerie. We are a free role playing game with less rules and more freedom. After many years, a couple of hosts and a few different game systems, we feel that less is more. Players get to be truly creative, which in turn leads to more enjoyment in game.
We invite you to join us in crafting our world and look forward to making friends. Should you have any questions, feel free to post in our chat box or ask any of our members or staff.

I would like to thank all admin and staff past and present, in particular Tiberius.
I would like to thank friends and staff no longer with us, and to the few I hold most dear: John, Roland, Alex, Azriel and Jenkins.
