The Menagerie play by post RPG would like to thank both Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson for their Dungeons & Dragons role playing game. They made the world that much more fantastic.

Celephai chuckled lightly. "Oho, I told her I used to have chalk back in my old home. Thought it might still be there, but... I guess not. No, Gray, everything's pretty much under control for now. She's as healthy as can be, I keep her pretty well-fed on what I can hunt either in the sea or in these waterways. She doesn't have many friends to speak of, but the other kids treat her nicely." She smiled, staring off into space again for a few moments, before refocusing on Grayell.
"As for Enda's talent, she... does that thing. Instantaneous relocation, or as you call it: Blinking. She can only really do it when she looks into someone's eyes, and someone looks into hers at the same time. Something about a mental trigger. I'm told she can learn how to... control it. Magic is not my forte, to be sure, but what she's got is something special. I'd like to see her really grow, academically." Cel looked over to the bundle of bedding in time to see a mound of blanket roll over.
"Actually, now that I think of it, there is one thing you can do, Grayell: Buy her some pants. And some undergarments. I can't get her fitted because nobody reacts very well to me in public places, even on the best of days, and I would rather not send her into a shop all on her own for clothing. What she has now was by the kindness of some old friends. Real silk from a Leng spider, but she needs something in case things get too breezy topside. Think you can handle that? Just take her out and let her pick out something she likes, that's it... well, after dinner, of course."
Cel turned to the heap of pillows where Enda lay. "Hey! Blinky! Wake up! Dinner time!" This was responded to rather enthusiastically, as she quickly scurried from her nest in the corner over to where Celephai was standing. Swiftly, the betantacled woman deposited the steamed seafood onto a platter, setting it down by the fire, along with three bowls of the turtle stew, still steaming. Without any further adornments or utensils, the two of them sat down near the fire pit and started chowing down, Cel made a quick remark to Grayell before prying open a clam. "You'd better hurry, this little girl can easily eat two lobsters in a single sitting."

Grayell sat as commanded and watched the pair for a moment, just simply smiling. He picked up the soup, lifted it to his lips... and then paused. He was watching Cel, that same smile on his face and then he spoke. Softly.
"You're a good mother Cel."
Then, he lifted the soup to his lips and started to enjoy his meal.

The meal was, to say the least, filling, albeit somewhat bland for lack of additional flavorings. Enda laid back against the bedding, feeling (and looking) somewhat engorged for a small child, much to Celephai's amusement. "Yes, you did get your appetite from me... well, Gray isn't a lightweight either. Aaaah..." she leaned back, sighing and stretching her limbs. This was right somehow. It just felt right.
"So, Grayell," Cel looked to him lazily, "If you wanted to put off that shopping trip 'till tomorrow, I don't think anyone would hold it against you."

Grayell covered his mouth as he burped and sighed heavily, completely buggered. He grinned at them both and patted his stomach, then fell onto his back to simply lay there, groaning a little.
"Yeah... I am stuffed. So. Bloody. Stuffed.
The trip can wait. She won't fit in anything as is."

"Bahaha- Ooh, oof... that hurts. Alright, alright. Well, I am glad you enjoyed the meal, forgive me if I lack etiquette in saying this, but you're free to rest here tonight. I won't try anything too untoward if you don't." Cel hefted herself up, with assistance from her tentacles. She offered Gray a helping hand.

Grayell took it but carried his own weight as he got to his feet and then, quite comfortably; gave Cel a large-sized-man hug. He pecked a kiss upon her cheek and smiled, studying her for a moment.
"I think you might have changed some Cel. And you've been missed. But regardless, you've always known how to make me smile."
He adjusted his clothing a little and looked to Edna, still clutching his sash.
"I will return in the morning. You're a dear friend, but I am not sure I want to explain to Kiko why I was not home this night. I will return in the morning if you like and see to some clothing for the little lady."

Celephai chuckled. To her, Grayell always seemed to be taking things far too easily, but maybe levity simply came to him as easily as breathing did. Ah, and the matter of Kiko was something to be concerned with.
"Tell her the truth, Grayell: An old friend asked for help. All else fails, tell her I put you in an awkward position, which would be beyond your principles to avoid taking some responsibility in. Yog'Sothoth knows I have put you in a position that would at best be described as... imposing."

Grayell shrugs and with a kiss upon Cel's cheek and a smile for Enda, he takes his leave.
He returns in the morning after having explained the situation to Kiko. A child, any child and any friend of his in need weren't going to be neglected nor ignored which she understood completely and he was embracing the situation with his usual, relaxed but enthusiastic attitude.
"Morning you two. So Enda, we're going to get you some new clothes today; what do you think?"

Celephai was casually organizing some random items in the cabinets, occasionally flinging an odd tidbit out into the fire. Enda, however, was busy trying to figure out a small puzzlebox. At Grayell's greeting, however, the little girl looked up, hurrying over to him.
"Kay, lemme ask mom-"
"Yes, get some pants on before the Captain of the Guard arrests me for failing to dress you properly."
"Mom says it's 'kay. So where we goin'?"
Enda held her hands together in front of her, easily becoming the picture of innocence as she pivoted back and forth.

Grayell smiled, looking from Enda to Cel and then back as he lowered to a knee. She was entirely too cute. He had no qualms about it, she struck something paternal in him and rendered him quite helpless but to accommodate.
"Well I thought maybe we could go to the Merchant's Markets and see what they might have. Then we can eat something in town (he whispered 'with NO seaweed') and I do believe we can get you some chalk.

The little abomination bounced happily, giving a muffled applause with sleeved hands. "Yeah!" Enda chimed through the shash, which she had apparently taken to wearing as a scarf. She hurried over to Celephai, and with a light -chunk- a bag of coin was dropped into a waiting hand.
The girl scurried back over to Grayell, nodding once. "Mum doesn't want me usin' your money, 'cause she says 'only scum borrow without either asking or making a very convoluted contract, which they probably won't see coming, but still, a deal's a deal, so stop splashing, tomorrow I'll teach you why boys are troubl-" Celephai ceased her rifling through the myriad storage long enough to start peering back at Enda rather intensely. Enda took the hint, certainly, and looked back up at Grayell.

Grayell was rather taken aback by all of that and once it took a long moment to register... he burst out laughing. He picked the tyke up and promptly sat her on his shoulder, one hand holding her firmly in place. He looked to Cel, still tickled pink.
"Cel. Friends do things for friends. And what I do with my coin is my business. I'll have her home for dinner, dressed suitably. Maybe a big black cloak and not much else."
He shot her a wink then and headed for the exit tunnel.

Celephai shook her head, returning to her work as Gray exited. Enda, however, was merrily squealing as they wound through the passages, very much enjoying their ride. As they neared the surface, she had to duck lower and lower to avoid head contact with the ceiling.
"So... where we goin'? Mom said I needed pants, but I dunno what those are."

Grayell laughed again, she was fun. For now. He knew too well the pangs of dealing with kids when they got tired or bored so he was hoping for a day of fun with less teleporting. When they reached the water front, he slipped her behind his neck and held her hands as she rode his shoulders.
"Well. Pants are what cover your legs and keep your bum warm."
