Ah, yes. The amulet.
The one she wore every single day. Kiko whispered the word even though she was fast running out of air. She could not see the surface and she could not distinguish any thing around her. Even if she could get her head above the sea it would probably all look the same.
"Solas."
And the charm the Wolf had given her years ago, the one called "The Caress or Orlune" burst into light. She was several yards away from the yacht, still, the light was enough of a beacon to someone already searching for her.

Grayell was plummeting through the cold depths, the anchor dragging him along easily, him holding all the breath he could muster in his lungs. He had slowed his blood considerably, forcing his body to regulate to a lessened pace, if only to lengthen just how long he may need to be underwater.
The light broke the dark, shattered it like glass as the brilliant blue aura called to him and it was then that he released the anchor and kicked, down and to his right. He shot out of the dark and clasped a hand to hers, pulled her to him as much as he was pulled to her and then gripped her jaw.
The cold and the wet could kill. The darkness was foreboding, enough to rob one of their will to fight. But he pressed his mouth to hers and with as much urgency as a departing kiss, he breathed his lungs into her own.

Kiko's eyes sprung open when his breath came pouring into her mouth. She had slowly been sinking and the reason why now was obvious. There was a wide gash along her thigh bleeding profusely. Whatever power there had been in her legs before she went into the water was gone.
She had somehow twisted enough to avoid the certain smack on her skull when the Catalina came down. As for the wound on her leg she was having trouble remembering how it occurred. The construct? The boat? It was too much for her to figure out and fight the cold water too.
But the air gave her fresh energy. And with that energy new will and determination.

Grayell's face winced as he had no air, but be damned if he was going to fail now. He looked down at the red, now black in the water escaped her thigh. His arm slipped about her waist and he had enough strength to get her free, make damn sure she would see home again. His eyes went to the surface, unseen past the light of Orlune and he kicked furiously, desperately to breach the surface.
They broke the water and he gasped, coughing and dizzy, strength now sapped from his limbs. He'd given everything to making it to the surface and was now spent, his head dropped against her shoulder.

Kiko coughed, sputtered, and tried to blink the water out of her eyes. There. The charm had given her enough light to see the Catalina drifting like a ghost ship in their direction. Oh, bless you, Kaminari. She wrapped her arm tighter around the Wolf's body and gave thanks one more time as well for her grandfather's tutelage.
She had made it to the surface with him. She could get the Wolf to the yacht, too. She rolled her shoulder back and exhaled the air he had selflessly given her. She pulled a clean one into her lungs, too, before starting the rather one-sided swim to the hull of their boat.

Grayell helped as best he could, as bedraggled and as beaten as he was. He'd defied a witch on the water, given it his all, tapped his magic to crush her in one decisive blow and her own magic had fought it. He was tired, needed rest, needed sleep, needed the ache in his head to subdue, the agony in his body to fade.
But he had her. The water's did not get away with it this time. He had grabbed her from their grasp and be damned if they'd ever get the chance again.
Maybe it was time he scuttled the Catalina and stayed on firmer footing.
::With a grumble and much sleepy eye-rubbing, a bundle of wildflowers appears on the table in the main room as Neko makes her way to bed for the night. She's too tired to think of looking for something to put them in and just lays them down gently and stumbles her way to the porch to sleep.::
Grayell has no problems drifting off to sleep as a cool wind begins to blow in off the coast to ruffle the leaves in the trees that surround his home. Dreams fill his head as he sleeps, and if they seem slightly brighter than usual, he takes no notice. Half the night passes without note, until...
At some point in the night Grayell's inner eye closes and in the darkness he feels bound, unable to move. The only sound is the soft slow sound of drops hitting a hard surface...
pat...
pat...
pat...
The sound of a door opening is heard, and Grayell no longer feels alone...
Welcome to The Menagerie. We are a free role playing game with less rules and more freedom. After many years, a couple of hosts and a few different game systems, we feel that less is more. Players get to be truly creative, which in turn leads to more enjoyment in game.
We invite you to join us in crafting our world and look forward to making friends. Should you have any questions, feel free to post in our chat box or ask any of our members or staff.
May you enjoy your stay.
It must be said that this game is the product of continued dedication and friendship.
Grayell: Game inventor and closet basement geek.

The Menagerie has enjoyed many incarnations, revamps, reimaginings and renovations and none of it would have been possible without the ongoing support of my friends, the players. Their unwavering loyalty and endless dedication to this project has been stellar.
I would like to thank all admin and staff past and present, in particular Tiberius.
I would like to thank friends and staff no longer with us, and to the few I hold most dear: John, Roland, Alex, Azriel and Jenkins.
Thank you all.
