Alright, so as much as I enjoy Roleplaying with the lot of you from TTD, I say we start recruiting new people onto the board. How we should do this I don't really know.

Wolfgang had a thought to promote on a gamer site that he and I are members of, which seems like a good idea to me.

I know there are a lot of online directories for people looking for forum rp's, so it may be prudent to advertise on some of those.

Proboards has support for their rps, there is a thread where people post looking to play and RP and then sites contact them even.

RPG Directory is a big deal and we need to be active there.

We should look into affiliation, members of other sites will cruise a good looking button and might be pleasantly surprised.

There are other rpg directories too, I can't recall the one the Menagerie was on but we ended up in the top 50 sites on there out of literally THOUSANDS.

We should be very active promoting and entering any manner of publicity, rating programs for the site, other places that write reviews, competitions for best looking site, game, system and so on.

The first Menagerie showed up pretty darn well in search engines. We need to trump that here.

Hopefully it fares better than past "recruitment" efforts.

In this context "recruitment" is a weird word.

Well I can honestly say that I won't have a lot of time to be putting us out there. Unfortunately, efforts to staff someone to take on that job have failed in the past.

I'd try and be active on that front, but I really can't afford the time. As it stands, I may not even be able to be as active an admin or player, cause I leave for college a week from tomorrow. e.e

I'm personally waiting until we see some more posts on this board before I begin actively promoting this board.

A couple of things you guys to do to promote us (that would only take a few minutes of your time) would be:

Add a link to our site in the signature file of other forums you are active in (even if they're not RP related, we get a boost in the search engine rankings when we get links from other places).

Post about your adventures in facebook and twitter. I know most of your friends may not be interested, but a couple might be.

If we ever get this site submitted to a directory, we'll make an announcement so you guys can vote. :)

Alright guys. First things first, I think a domain name would help. FF charged nothing to park our domain name. PB however will charge $15 a year on top of the $15 for the domain name which I have registered who knows where. I don't have the play money at present. There is a 'support this board' feature somewhere with some crap point credit system, have to look into it.

I would also like to hear everyone's ideas for expanding the community - anything really. Post away and let's see what we can't come up with.

Well, next saturday, I'm starting college. At an engineering college. Full of nerds. :P

So I could mention it around, see if anybody there is interested.

Great!

I looked it up, $1 = 1 credit. They have a breakdown for the ad free on how many page views that lasts. Linking our domain name here is $14 a year. I can manage that with paypal right now I suppose. I will have to get FF to unpark the domain though.

I am going to add a 'support this site' link in our menu there. You can donate as little as $1 and everything helps. In a week we will have ads for anyone so bugged by them.

I think I will also link the old site and sooner or later we will clean it up and turn it into a public archive.

would the public archive be just third dawn and sellswords or going all the way back to the original menagerie?

Original menagerie is gone. It was wiped by those bastard at FF long ago.

Welcome to The Menagerie. We are a free role playing game with less rules and more freedom. After many years, a couple of hosts and a few different game systems, we feel that less is more. Players get to be truly creative, which in turn leads to more enjoyment in game.

We invite you to join us in crafting our world and look forward to making friends. Should you have any questions, feel free to post in our chat box or ask any of our members or staff.

May you enjoy your stay.

It must be said that this game is the product of continued dedication and friendship.

Grayell: Game inventor and closet basement geek.
Yukiko: Admin and dream-weaver.
Marlena: Admin and promoter extraordinaire.

The Menagerie has enjoyed many incarnations, revamps, reimaginings and renovations and none of it would have been possible without the ongoing support of my friends, the players. Their unwavering loyalty and endless dedication to this project has been stellar.

I would like to thank all admin and staff past and present, in particular Tiberius.

I would like to thank friends and staff no longer with us, and to the few I hold most dear: John, Roland, Alex, Azriel and Jenkins.

Thank you all.
